Why You Should Start Prepping For Easter 2018 Right Now

With Easter only a couple of weeks behind us I’m the sure the last thing you want to hear is “start preparing for Easter right now!” 

Let me ask you ask you a question.  

What if Easter was a culmination of an entire year of work?

Most of us are still coming down from Easter Weekend.  

You may be recovering from the long hours spent rehearsing and preparing.  You may be elated from the excitement and energy.  You may be discouraged by the way things went.  

Most worship leaders begin preparing for Easter 4-8 weeks before the big weekend.  We pull out all the stops.  

“Let’s start a choir”

“Let’s do those new songs I’ve been wanting to introduce"

“Let’s try building a set for the stage”

“Let’s buy a camera and produce a special video” 

There’s a temptation to pile it all on and hold tight.  Hoping it all comes together on that special day.  This can cause unnecessary stress and pressure.  It normally produces less than optimum results because of the limited time to work out these new ideas.  

So I’ll ask you again.  What if Easter was a culmination of an entire year of work?  

How Is This Possible?

Begin thinking and praying about what your worship services could be like in a year’s time.  Maybe you’d like your band to grow in size.  Maybe you’d like to use tracks along with your songs.  Maybe you’d like to upgrade to a new type of presentation software.  Maybe you’d like for your musicians to memorize their music.  

Now, begin systematically working on accomplishing these goals one at a time.  Make progress through the months.  Let big events like Christmas Eve, Night’s of Worship, Good Friday and Easter Sunday be the day when you put all the pieces together.  A milestone of your worship ministry development. 

Pull out your all star line up of songs, teams, media, stage design, and special elements.  

Here are a few questions I’d encourage you to ask yourself or discuss with other leaders in your ministry.  

What would the ultimate Easter Sunday service look like? 

What are two specific ways our music team can develop? 

What are two specific ways our tech team can develop? 

What is one special element I’d really love to incorporate into a service?  When can I try it before Easter Sunday? 

I promise that if you are working on developing your worship ministry all year long not only will Sundays like Easter be better but they'll be much less stressful.
