There are so many incredible worship bands, worship artists, and worship leaders. Recording, releasing, and marketing music has never been easier or cheaper. This is both wonderful and paralyzing.
How do you cut through the noise and find strong, congregational worship songs to lead at your church?
MultiTracks Email
This is the surprise front-runner for my top spot to discover new worship music. An email! MultiTracks offers original master tracks for most worship releases. As a way to promote their new tracks, they send a weekly email but it's MUCH more than a sales pitch.
They include brief descriptions the songs or albums to give you extra insight. The diversity is a real strength of this resources. They feature artists and albums across genres and styles.
You can get on their email list through their website.
Social Media
Follow your favorite worship bands, worship artists, and worship leaders.
Follow music producers, creative directors, and lead pastors.
Follow bloggers.
All of these people love to share their latest releases and other songs they're enjoying.
Subscribe to your favorite artists on youtube as well. They'll often release acoustic versions of their songs not available anywhere else. These acoustic versions can be perfect for smaller worship teams.
Searching the hashtag #sundaysetlist on Twitter or Instagram can also give you an idea of songs that are connecting with a lot of churches.
Spotify Playlists
Have one of these Spotify playlists going in the background and wait for a song to grip you. Don't like these? There are plenty more to choose from.
Related Artists
We all have worship artists we like. Streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music (and others) have great "related artists" sections. Search your favorite artists and discover more with a similar sound.
Personal Conversations
Sometimes a good 'ol analog conversation is best. Open up the conversation with your worship team, Pastor, and friends. Ask what they're listening to. Ask what they like.
Planning Center Top Songs
If you subscribe to planning center you can find a "top songs" tab on the left-hand side of the "songs" page. This gives you a very accurate picture of what churches are currently leading.
